The Challenge:

How might we recycle differently and increase public awareness about the importance of recycling among households within housing estates, so that citizens learn how to recycle right and effectively reduce the current 40 per cent contamination rate in recycling?

RECOMMENDATIONS:

To guide the public to recycle right, improve recycling rates and reduce contamination rates, the #GreenHacks panel proposes a three-pronged approach of: Information, Infrastructure and Involvement. These include: Providing better information through a simplified product labelling scheme for recyclables, introducing segregated waste bins for different types of recyclables, and working with the community to improve public education and awareness of recycling.
